Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Clash Royale’, ‘Marvel Future Fight’, ‘Candy Crush Soda Saga’, ‘Mage Gauntlet’, and More

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. You know, I really expected to see a bunch of Christmas or non-descriptive Winter Holiday updates this time around, but there weren’t that many. I guess those are coming next week. For now, enjoy this odd mix of updates that I’ve found. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

Mage Gauntlet – GameClub, Free Standard disclaimer for GameClub stuff that I include here: I am involved with the project writing the history articles included in the Stories section of the app. They pay me for that work. This does not affect which, if any, of their games I choose to include in these articles. I only include them for the same reason I’d include any game: awesome new additions. And in this case, I think you’ll agree this is the good stuff. Mage Gauntlet now has full controller support, allowing you to play this great action-adventure with the gamepad of your choice.

Langrisser, Free I haven’t looked in on this one in a while, but here we are checking up on the F2P Langrisser game to see what’s new in its latest version. It seems pretty much par for the course with this kind of thing. There are some new heroes, Omega and Yulia, and a new Challenge Mode called The Ancient Beckoning. A new S1 Commemorative Skin is apparently on the way, and more special equipment items have been added to the Secret Realm Store.

Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI, Free Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is on sale right now on iOS. You can unlock the full version of the core game for $4.99, and that is some of the best value for money you can get in gaming. Anyway, this update pertains to the addition of a new expansion you can buy. Gathering Storm is now available as a $39.99 IAP, and yeah, that probably seems a bit steep compared to the sale price for the core game. But that’s what people are paying on other platforms, so fair is fair.

MARVEL Future Fight, Free Something-something, chimichangas. The Merc with the Mouth is the focus of the latest update for Marvel Future Fight. Of course, plenty of the characters associated with Deadpool are already in the game, including DP himself. So what to do? Well, there are new uniforms for Deadpool, Domino, Cable, and Apocalypse for starters. For new characters, you’ve got Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Slapstick, and Gorilla-Man. Apocalypse now has Tier-3 advancement, and there’s a new World Boss Ultimate in the form of Cable & Apocalypse. Deadpool fans will not be disappointed with this update, and since Deadpool is just Spider-Man with more pockets and an R-rating, I’ll give this game the coveted UMMSotW award for this week.

Dragalia Lost, Free I don’t usually include Dragalia Lost in these articles because the game’s update notes never say much of anything and I don’t personally play the game to check. But even I’ve heard about the latest update for the game that adds a new Mega Man-themed event. It looks really cool, though I’ve heard mixed word-of-mouth about how it plays. Still, I can’t help but approve of an absurd cross-over featuring one of my old favorites. Rock on!

Subway Surfers, Free It’s December and that means we’re going to start seeing more Christmas events and other winter holiday-style updates. Subway Surfers gets in early with this frosty new version, which sees the kids traveling through a veritable winter wonderland. There’s a new surfer named Festive Fresh, and there are some cool outfits for Elf Tricky and Malik. There’s also a holiday sale going on if you’re looking to drop some real cash on the game. And isn’t that the real spirit of the season?

Clash Royale, Free Hey, an update for Clash Royale. This is still really popular, right? I’m hoping so, as I went so far as to stick it in the article title and everything. If it’s not, whoops. This new version has a brand new card, the Battle Healer. Cause damage and heal it! Create your own work! It’s amazing. You can unlock a free Tower Skin in Season 6, and there are now Card Level Boosts so that you can boost new card releases to your King Tower Level. There is a bunch of other stuff, but I’ll let you enjoy combing through the rest on your own.

Guns of Glory: Empires Conquer, Free Apparently this game has gotten a slight retitle. It’s now Guns of Glory: Empires Conquer. They sure do, they sure do. With that business dealt with, let’s get to the update. It includes a new R6 Airship Part in the form of Sky Iron. Alien technology, wow! There’s also a new Airship Part Upgrade Material: Precision Components. What exactly they do is beyond my knowledge. Airship Trials are open for a limited time, and the airship expedition gets a couple of new paths. Just… a lot of airship stuff to deal with, I guess.

Candy Crush Soda Saga, Free It’s been a while since I’ve included a King game in these round-ups. That one person didn’t like them, but also the update notes for most of them are total nothingburgers. And this one is no different in that regard. All we really get from this is that there are 15 more levels to play, which I suppose is actually the important bit. After a few thousand levels, I guess it’s tough to come up with anything new to make up about them. If you’re waiting for 15 more levels in Candy Crush Soda Saga, rejoice. You will be receiving positive reinforcement on a fairly regular schedule for the foreseeable future, and that is nice also.

ANOTHER EDEN, Free We’ll finish things out with a look at the latest content in Another Eden, one of the better F2P RPGs out there. Not as much as usual in this update, but there is a new encounter with Melina (Another Style). To celebrate the release date of Part 2, the developer is gifting players with 1000 Chronos Stones, which I’m sure you can put to use somewhere. Other than that, it’s a bunch of bug fixes, text corrections, and some balance adjustments.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
